Modeling dynamics and light localization in novel photonic structures

Recent developments in the areas of nanophotonics and metamaterials present exciting opportunities for the design of faster, smaller, more efficient photonic-based devices. Parallel to technological advances there is a need for theoretical investigations of the dynamics of light propagating in such media. In this talk we will discuss such dynamics in different settings, including PT-symmetric where symmetry breaking can lead with extreme events.
