I will give a brief overview of our research in hydrodynamical studies where the fluid is made of light. I will show how light propagating in properly chosen media experiences a repulsive photon-photon interaction which in turn can lead to a superfluid behaviour. The superfluid nature of the light beam is seen in both the dispersion relation and the spontaneous nucleation of quantised vortices when flowing around an extended obstacle. Applications and future directions will be discussed.
